2010
- Accident fatalities increased to 1,324
- Speed-related fatal accidents increased to 284. This number was 231 in 2009
- Aggressive-driver fatal accidents increased from 130 to 168
- Daily average of car accidents in the state was 332
- A fatality occurred every 7 hours due to a motor vehicle accident
- 34 accidents involved DUI/DWI per day
- Of all the fatalities that occurred in PA, 58% were not wearing seatbelts
2009
- There was a total of 121,242 accidents reported in 2009
- 1,256 of those accidents were fatal
- Roughly 14 accidents occurred every hour
- 16,500 accidents happened around the holidays
- 85% to 90% of all accidents in 2009 were a result of driver negligence
- Over 32,000 accidents occurred as a result of speeding
